How to Setup Your Blog

1.) go to blogger.com, If you have a google account (i.e. gmail address) you can use that to sign in. If not you need to set up an account, its really easy. Your "blog title" should be your name. Your display name should be something that is recognizable as 'you'.

2.) After setting up the blog, a screen "Start Blogging!" appears, Click on that and in the 'title' box write something like "About Me" and write a brief intro in the body portion. Then "Publish post" and "view blog." This way you can see what happens and what it looks like.

3.) After you have it set up, email me your blog address and your name. I will then copy and paste them all into the main course site at: http://ada180tcnjart.blogspot.com.

4.) Go to google and search for something that influences you and your art work, copy-save it to your folder on the Share or Temp drive to use as a new post on your new blog site. The files should be jpegs @ 72 ppi and a good size is 500 px (longest side).

5.) After you have your image(s) go back into your blog. Hit "New Post." Then with your cursor in the body section (not title), click on the little icon that looks like a landscape (and the yellow tag comes up that says "add image"). Then browse to find image in folder, decide on layout, hit "upload image." You can add text next to or below the image. Choose "View Blog".

6.) Now create a links list. Click on "Customize" in upper right of screen, then click on "Layout" tab. Once in the layout view, click on the right hand side box that says "Add New Gadget". In the new window titled "Add a Gadget", scroll down to select the "+" by "Link List". Title your list, i.e. "Class Blogsites." Copy/paste, blog address for the course [http://ada180tcnjart.blogspot.com] Click "Add link."; then add each classmate's blog address as well (I'll email the class list). Click "Add link." Choose sort alphabetically. Save. You can also rearrange the page elements with that little hand that pops up over the boxes.

7.) Once done, check that all your links work and look at everyone else's blog. You need to keep in mind that we WILL be reading your blog so keep it appropriate. And feel free to comment on anyone else's blog where you can be critical but not cruel.

8.) When you post your assignments the files should be jpegs @ 72 ppi and a good size is 500 px (longest side)

9.) To summarize: you should have the following on your blog site:
--a statement about yourself including any computer experience relevant to our class, ie.: Mac and/or PC; Photoshop and/or Illustrator
--1 or more images that reflect influences on your art/art making
--a list of the class members' (and class main site) blog addresses
